 Two previous versions of Opel Astra were ones of the most popular cars of the lower middle class. Although the Astra III differs from its predecessors, almost everyone that has had contact with the car thinks that the introduced changes has gone in the right direction. This model has a chance to conquer the market of so-known compacts. What at first glance distinguishes it from the previous generation is the design. New Astra III has become more dynamic and pugnacious. Because of the large lamps in the front and at the back the car acquired more character. The whole gives the impression that the car is bigger than indeed. This is one of the neater compact on the market. The interior, like Opel's one, has not got fascinating appearance. Although we can choose the color of the upholstery depending on our taste, the simple design does not arouse more emotion. However, it is worth to note the very good quality of materials used in the finishing of the cockpit. In the middle one can sit low, but comfortably. A major problem can be the visibility through the rear window so it is worth considering the parking sensors. Seating arrangement provides a lot of space for four adults. But the journey with three passengers on the back couch would be rather cumbersome. Leather steering wheel is well-suited to hands and together with well-planned-out dashboard elements provides a high driving comfort. On the steering wheel radio control buttons are placed, and on-board computer steering ones as well. This model uses a strange control system of the indicators and the wipers, which requires getting used to it. Luggage compartment capacity is rather an average one - 350 l. Good brakes, broad wheels and well-designed suspension, during the driving of the Astra III, guarantee a really pleasant ride. The car keeps the road quite well at the turns. For some drivers a small delay in response to the movement of the steering wheel can be a minor minus yet to the majority it should not pose a problem. To sum up, nice design and good traction properties are likely to ensure Astra III a good sale. However, the level of competition in this class of cars is high, so this model will have to compete for a good position on the market. Source: |
