The fifth and the last generation of this model. Sold in 1984 - 1994. One year after the debut Kadett E won the competition for the European Car of the Year. For many years he had been struggling with the Volkswagen Golf for the title of the Best Bought Compact Car. In 1991, its successor - Opel Astra hit the market.
In comparison by its predecessors, Kadett E is distinguished by much more aerodynamic silhouette. A major advantage of this model is that it was produced in all possible versions of the body. So we have the three-door version, four-door, five-door one and even station wagon (estate) and cabrio. Unfortunately, the weakness of Kadett E is its interior, made from poor quality materials in an unaesthetic way. Due to bad quality of the finishing of the body, while driving, passengers are exposed to various creaks and shrieks. When we add to that the loud work of the engine, it is hard to even discuss the high comfort of journey. Fortunately, as for compact car Kadett E is a spacious car, which diminishes another inconveniences to a large extent. This model is distinguished by a vast range of mounted engines. And so we could obtain Kadett E with petrol (gasoline) engines: 1.3 N (60 HP), 1.3 S (75 HP), 1.6 (82 HP), 1.2 (55 HP), 1.6 S (90 HP) and diesel engines: 1.6 D ( 54 HP), 1.7 D (57 HP), 1.7 D (60 HP), 1.5 TD (72 HP). Good steering and braking systems, plus the small sizes make it easy and pleasant to drive this car. In addition, Kadett gained fame as a reliable car with practically indestructible gearbox, so we recommend it especially to young drivers.
Currently, on the market we can find only run-down Kadetts E with bad mileage. Their clear advantage is their low price and low running costs, but before buying the car should be thoroughly examined. Although there are no problems with spare parts of this model and the cost of repair is generally not high, but the car is prone to corrosion and in addition we can be confident that we will have great problems with its resale.
