The car was produced in Gliwice, from 2000 to 2007. Until the end of the production approximately 435-500 items left the factory. Opel Agila A I derives from Japanese Suzuki Wagon R and belongs to so-know microvans' class. From its twin-car it differs in chassis, interior and external details.
The engine is on the front and it powers the front wheels. The basis was three-cylinder, liter petrol engine with a power of 58 KM. In this model there has been a four-cylinder engine 1.2 l (75 KM) mounted and later turbodiesel 1,3 CDTI (70 KM) as well.
Agilas in the salons coud be purchased in four versions: "Essentia", "Njoy", "Cosmo" and "Njoy Design-Edition". They differ slightly in the appearance and the equipment.
Thanks to the well-planned interior, there is a lot of space vis-a-vis any car of this class, and passengers can sit high and comfortably. Yet we do not recommend longer routes with five adults in the car. Major advantage is the possibility to fold the back of the couch so that we can get the baggage area with a capacity of 1200 l. Opel Agila was to be a cheap car, so the quality of upholstery and the cover leaves a lot to be desired. Many interior items (clocks, switches, etc.) derive from the already known models Corsa and Astra.
Because of weak brakes and hardly precised steering, this model drives not so well. The car is very nimble so it turns out to be good in the urban jungle. During the journey we can feel some discomfort because of the hard suspension.
The worst part of the Agila, his appearance, we left to be discussed at the end. Everyone that discerns it even only once finds that it is simply nightmarish. And now, an appeal to the designers of Opel. The fact that a car is cheap does not mean that it must be ugly. "Box-like" body probably scared off many potential buyers.
To sum up, high reliability, affordability and low maintenance costs make the Opel Agila a quite good purchase for somebody who does not pay attention to its apprearance.
